DM for customs and revenues


Gul Maqsood Sabit Son of Abdul Rasool Stanikzai was born in 1974 in Surkhrood District of Nangarhar Province. Mr. Sabit completed his primary and secondary education in Peshawar, Pakistan while living there as refugee.

He got his bachelor of Since in Business Administration (Accounting) in 1999 from Berea College of Kentucky, USA. He earned his master degree in Public Administration (Management and Finance) in 2006 from California State University, East Bay in Hayward, California, USA.

Mr. Sabit’s extensive work experience includes work as accountant at Citibank in San Francisco of California, accountant at California Federal Bank, Business Manager at La Honda_pescadero Unified School District of California, USA.

He joined Ministry of Finance in June,2006 as Director General of Internal Audit. In addition to the internal Audit Department he later worked as Adviser to the Minister of Finance in audit reforms in the country. As head of Internal Audit, Mr. Sabit Worked Closely with the World Bank and Asian Development bank to establish standard accounting practice in the country .Mr. Sabit was appointed as Deputy Finance Minister for Revenue and Customs on December 28,2008.During his tenure as the Deputy Minister for Revenue and Customs there have been significant , sustained , increases in government revenue returns . the Final quarter of 1388 showed a 75% increase, a landmark in ministry achievements.

The DM led the reform of the Pashtany bank, in his role as CEO, bringing it to the forefront of Afghan banking and practice of best international standards.

Mr. Sabit was reappointed as Deputy Minister for Finance on March 18,2013. His reappointment as deputy Finance Minister for Revenue and Customs, is conformed on the basis of his exemplary achievements.
